The International Work

‘’Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; show him how to catch fish, and you feed him for a lifetime’’.

Throughout the years, we have gathered extensive amounts of experience, and since 1989, the Danish Association of the Physically Disabled (DHF) has been involved in international projects with the objective to support Disabled People’s Organisations in developing countries, by sharing with them what we know.
In less abstract terms – we help the organisations help themselves.

By supporting developing countries, we contribute to the creation of a more solid organisational structure, which will subsequently enable the disability movement to do advocacy work, and thus improve living conditions for people with disabilities (PWDs), just as DHF has been doing since 1925.

If you are interested in co-operation with DHF, or should you have any questions about what we do, you are welcome to contact us at uland@danskhandicapforbund.dk.

All of our international activities are financed by the Danish Government through various funds (for instance Danida), and they are carried out by both DHF employees and by our amazing and hardworking volunteers. You can read more about our development work in the boxes.
