Since 2001, DHF has collaborated with the Ghana Society of the Physically Disabled (GSPD), an organisation of PWPD’s with 8,000 members. We participate in projects financed by the Disabled Peoples Organisations Denmark (DPOD), the Danish Youth Council (DUF), and lately also Danida.

We have in 2010, in collaboration with the Danish Association of the Blind (DAB), the Danish Deaf Association (DDA)and DPOD, initiated a common project with the objective of improving the capacity of the entire Ghanaian movement of PWPD's to fight for their rights. The project contains several common elements, for example training, strategy development and common campaigns.

The individual organisations also work on specific projects, and GSPD for example are developing a model for loan and saving groups. The idea is that PWPD's can give money to a common pool, which serves to provide small loans for the members of the group to support small-scale income generating activities. You can read more about the microfinance programs on
www.vsla.net.

We also collaborate with the Disabled Sports Organisation Denmark (DHIF) as well as GSPD’s Sports wing about the use of disabled sports as a tool in organisation building.
